I thought Brakelate would enjoy the new NYPD training policies advising officers in Tense situations to close their eyes and breathe deeply or to turn around

Wow, though I think some change needs to take place in law enforcement in this country, I don't think officers closing their eyes in any situation is one of them.

Sometimes, I wonder about weird things. Like, does a Dominatrix have problems getting her luggage past the TSA? But, I remember to ignore these random thoughts

I guess that explains why you drove back east recently, instead of flying?

:o

We ponder these ponderous things when we really should be ignoring. I think I saw that in a fortune cookie once.

I think I will ignore Fry's from now on. Decades ago, Fry's was a place with people knowledgeable of the product and helpful. Now, not so much. They used to be a place where you could get the latest gear or find replacements for your expired gear. Now, not so much

You used to be able to buy your gear and leave without being treated like a criminal. Now, you have to show your purchases and receipt to the Stasi at the front door in order to cross into West Berlin. You are presumed to be a thief until you prove you are not

My power supply on my PC failed this morning. The shelves at Fry's had nothing close to the unit I have in my system, which is heavily slanted toward +3.3V power. When I got home with something close, but unsatisfactory, I found an exact replacement on Newegg. I ordered it, and even with shipping it was $8 less than the unsatisfactory unit from Fry's. So, tomorrow I will return to Fry's and return the shelf junk as my last visit to Fry's. And the Stasi can fuck off, as I will ignore them

Please resume your regularly scheduled ignoring

In a pinch, or if there is a sale, Fry's still can be handy. But, they are not always inexpensive and things can be picked over or repackaged, etc. I used to envy people who had a Fry's close by, but I have learned to live without them. I too started to use Newegg, but, Newegg has also changed, and not for the better. Fry's also has a very good return policy as they do not charge restocking, and this is particularly useful for system builders as sometimes components won't play together and Fry's has always taken everything back in my case. It is for this reason that I still try to buy my new hardware from Fry's when I want to build a new computer. I have 10 days to return it if it doesn't mesh. And, when you are mixing lots of components this can happen. MB's and memory are particularly fussy, for instance.

But, Newegg is still good.

I'll ignore your Fry's comment. I have one somewhat nearby, but I don't have the need to use it. I love, and use Amazon. Especially now with their available same-day delivery on certain items to Prime members (which I am one of). My power supply went out a couple months ago, and I had a new, better unit by 9pm that night. Also, Amazon's return policy is pretty good. If something doesn't work, they'll send an immediate replacement along with a label for free shipping back. If it works, but doesn't fit in the purpose you intended, still free return shipping. If you just plain don't want it, they'll charge you return shipping, but still issue you a full refund with no restocking fee.

Ignoring that the "Temporary" shortening of the drag strip for the fuel categories has been in place since 7/3/2008. I attended the last 1/4 mile drag race in Norwalk Ohio in June 2008. See evidence, then resume ignoring

This was really difficult to ignore. I went to the piru gun range to zero the scope on my pop gun, and the guy in the station to my right was firing this small artillery piece. 338 Lapua Magnum. Built and operated by Bill Dzuro of Dzuros' guns in Ventura

He was shooting that thing at 1000 yards. Most people don't realize you have to aim (depending on the velocity of the projectile at both the muzzle and at the desired range) as much as 30 feet or more above the target. It looks weird when you see the rifle pointed at about a 40 degree up angle (the 1000 yard targets at Piru are above the firing line by quite a bit) so it does approximate an artillery piece somewhat
